Call for Submissions: Overview

The Centre for Information Technology in Education (CITE) of the Faculty of Education of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is holding its research symposium, that is, CITERS 2026 on May 15 & 16, 2026 at HKU.

CITE, which aims to strive for excellence in the use of IT in education, provides a platform for individuals and institutions to come together to build new knowledge about learning and the transformative use of technology. CITERS 2026 welcomes researchers, practitioners, and everyone in related fields to share ideas, research findings, and good practices, and join our discussions on various topics. The theme this year is Co-evolving Futures: Agency in Learning and Collaboration.

We invite you to submit a proposal that contributes to one of the six sub-themes:

  1. Human-AI Collaboration in Teaching and Learning: Human-AI collaboration explores the evolving relationship between humans and artificial intelligence in educational settings. Participants are encouraged to present research on how AI technologies can enhance teaching and learning experiences, foster personalized education, and support cognitive development.
  2. Intelligent Learning Design and Learning Analytics: We welcome innovative approaches to designing intelligent learning environments and leveraging learning analytics to enhance educational outcomes. Presentations focusing on data-driven insights, adaptive learning technologies, and the integration of analytics in educational practices are highly encouraged.

  3. Agency in Learning and Teaching with Emerging Technologies: Participants are invited to submit research and practices that explore how emerging technologies—such as virtual reality, games, and AI-enhanced tools—can enhance learner and educator agency. This sub-theme highlights innovative approaches that empower learners to take ownership of their learning and enable educators to design more flexible participatory learning experiences.

  4. Education Equity and Digital Wellbeing: Equity and wellbeing issues are important concerns in education. This sub-theme invites contributions related to the promotion of equity in education through the thoughtful integration of digital technologies. Presentations focusing on strategies to ensure inclusive access to educational resources, address digital divides, and prioritize the digital wellbeing of learners are welcome.

Emerging Literacies for Future Readiness: Participants are invited to submit research and practices that emphasize the development of essential literacies required for future readiness in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Participants are encouraged to explore topics related to media literacy, digital citizenship, and critical thinking skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the AI era.

  6. Theories and Practices of AI Literacy: Participants are invited to submit research and practices that deepen our understanding of AI literacy from both theoretical and applied perspectives.
